This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cosmarium moniliforme var. elongatum (West & G.S.West) Willi Krieger & Gerloff.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), moniliform, cylindrical but contracted at regular intervals like a string of beads (Stearn 1973).
