Furnari et al. (2003) cite the authority for this species as Feldmann-Mazoyer as do Serio et al. (2006: 137).
This species was seemingly introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 225), perhaps by shipping or via the Suez Canal. It was first found in 1991 in Sicily and has since spread widely. - (5 Nov 2015) - M.D. Guiry
This is a marine species.
Type locality: near Irakoka, Madagascar (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 353).
