The type species (lectotype) of the genus Ceramium is Ceramium virgatum Roth.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pseudoceramium caraibicum (H.E.Petersen & Børgesen) Barros-Barreto, Maggs & M.A.Jaramillo.
