Epitype locality: Rutgers University campus, New Jersey (40º27'36" N, 74º27'58" W) [type locality of lectotype not known] (Shin & Triemer: 770). Epitype: isolated by Woongghi Shin; small freshwater pond. MSH Shin NJ001 (Shin & Triemer: 770, fig. 3). Notes: Lectotype: Fig. 10 in Animalcula infusoria fluviatilia et marina; pl. XIX, 1786. Epitype: Lyophilized sample of E. viridis NJ001 isolated by Woongghi Shin, deposited at MSC (Shin NJ001). Kosmala et al. (2009: fig. 1, n and o) also provide illustrations of epitype. Culture from which epitype is described is deposited in the American Type Culture Collection as number (SHIN NJ001 ATCC PRA-110).
