Type information
Type locality: Richmond, Virginia (Sar et al. 2010: 523). Lectotype: Ehrenberg's figure in Mikrogeologie 1854: pl. 18, fig. 46: Departamento Cientifico Ficologia, Falcultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo, UNLP SEM stub # E 1-2 of the sample EC 1657a Richmond VA (Sar et al. 2010: 523). Notes: Lectotype(figs 1, 5-8) and epitype (figs15, 16, 19, 26, 27) designated by Sar et al. (2010: 523). Epitype: stub # 4263 made from sample LPC 4263, deposited in the Coleccion de Diatomeas at the Departamento Cientifico Ficologia, Falcultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo, Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Epitype locality: Pinamar, Buenos Aires Province.
