No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.

Nomenclatural notes
"Slender trailing English coralline. Ellis Corallines p. 49. tab. 24. fig. 3."

Taxonomic notes
John et al. (2004) cite Corallina microptera Mont. as a synonym of this species. Treated as taxonomically valid by Athanasiadis (2016: 334).

Distributional notes
"Several samples collected on the Azores had the morphological characters indicative of C. elongata as described in Walker et al. (2009) but were genetically identical to C. caespitosa" (Hind & Saunders, 2013: 110). - (29 Apr 2013) - Wendy Guiry

Habitat notes
Marine, epilithic in pools and hanging from rock faces in both shady and well-illuminated damp sites; lower littoral to upper sublittoral (Brodie et al., 2013). - (19 Aug 2014) - Wendy Guiry

General environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Whitish-pink to reddish-lilac, calcified, articulated fronds, fish-bone-like arrangement, to 50 mm high, axis compressed, repeatedly pinnate from discoid base, more abundantly and regularly branched than C. officinalis. Articulations small. Revised description (Brodie et al., 2013: 54).
