This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Angusticopula dickiei (Thwaites) Houk, Klee & H.Tanaka.

Type locality: near Aberdeen in moist dark cave near sea, on mosses etc., fine blackish-green sand; (Thwaites 1848: 168) Lectotype (designated by Houk & al. 2017: 25): G. Dickie; Dec. 1847; W; slide 'Cl. & M. Diat. 59' (Index Nominum Algarum)
