This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sporochnus radiciformis (R.Brown ex Turner) C.Agardh.

Lectotype locality: Western Australia ("Garden and Rottnest Is."); (Silva & al. 1996: 638) Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Womersley (1967: 241) for more information on the lectotype locality of this species.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), in the form of a broom; fastigiate (Stearn 1973).
