The type species (holotype) of the genus Anomoeoneis is Anomoeoneis sphaerophora Pfitzer.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Brachysira palustris (R.Maillard) Gerd Moser, A.Steindorf & Lange-Bertalot.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective B (Latin), swampy, marshy (Stearn 1973).
