This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Wildemania variegata De Toni.

Holotype locality: Beringön, temligen ymnig; något sällskaplig inom sublitoralregionen, fäst på sten; med sporocarpier. [Bering Island, Commander Islands, Russia, pretty abundant, somewhat gregarious in sublitoral zone, attached to the stone; with sporocarps.]; (Sutherland et al. 2011: 1141) Holotype: F.R. Kjellman; 14-19 August 1879; UPS; (Snow 1899: 1141)
