This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Humidophila difficilis (Grunow) Van de Vijver, Ector & T.M.Schuster.

Type locality: Uncertain, perhaps Central America; (Van de Vijver & al. 2020: 2) Lectotype (designated by Van de Vijver, Ector & T.M.Schuster): on liverwort; BR; BR-4633, prepared from Grunow sample 1854, original dried material (Van de Vijver & al. 2020: 2) Notes: Isolectotypes: slide W0127019 and slide W0127020, both from Grunow sample 1854 (W).
