The type species (holotype) of the genus Acrosorium is Acrosorium aglaophylloides Zanardini ex Kützing.

Type Information
Syntype localities: "Hab. Ohara, Kazusa Prov.; Enoshima, Sagami Prov." [Japan]; (Yamada 1930: 31) Holotype: SAP; 12344 (Yoshida 1998: 959) Notes: While two localities are referred to in the protologue, Yamada illustrates "the type specimen" in his pl. IV, fig. 3, which is SAP 12344 from Enoshima, which is thus the holotype.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), flabellate, fan-shaped (Stearn 1973).
