This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tetrabaena socialis (Dujardin) H.Nozaki & M.Itoh.

Syntype localities: "Hab. In 'Black Lake,' Esher Common, Surrey, in profusion amongst Sphagnum. Lancashire (Narramore)." [England]; (West & West 1896: 160)
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), inhabiting lakes (Stearn 1973).
