Type locality: "Typusmaterial: Fixierte Probe des Stammes SAG 73.80 (Holotyp: Sammlung KFA, IBT-3" [Locality not specified, presumably Germany]; (Hegewald & Schnepf 1984: 317) Notes: "Isotypen: B, BM, H, U). Isolate: SAG 73.80, UTEX 932. Verbreitung: Deutschland, ltalien (?), USA. SAG 73.80 unterscheidet sich von UTEX 932 durch ktirzere Dornen, kleinere Zellen und gelegentliche Aggregatbildung."
