Type locality: in cultures from Guéthary and Roscoff [Atlantic France]; (Dangeard 1965: 2699,2701) Notes: "Cette algue est apparue la pre1nière fois le 27 1nars 1963 sur une laine de culture de Colpornenia peregrina venant de Guéthary (Basses-Pyrénées)."..." Ce Giraudyopsis après avoir été observé dans une culture originaire de Guéthary, s'est retrouvé en avril 1965 dans une culture d'algues venant de Roscoff."
