Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Amphidinium is Amphidinium operculatum Claparède & Lachmann.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Testudodinium corrugatum (Larsen & D.J.Patterson) Horiguchi, Tamura & Yamaguchi .
