Type Information
Type locality: Gandersha, Somalia; (Woelkerling, Sartoni & Boddi 2002: 362) Holotype: G. Sartoni; 27 January 1982; On Amphiroa fragilissima (Linnaeus) J.V. Lamouroux growing on the inshore side of the reef; FT; Sartoni 11/010a (Woelkerling, Sartoni & Boddi 2002: 362) Notes: The holotype preparation includes male, female or carposporangial and tetrasporangial individuals. Isotype LTB 18056.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Possesses the characteristics of Paulsilvella and differs from the only other known species (P. antiqua) in possessing carposporangial and tetrasporangial conceptacles with roofs flush with the thallus surface and chambers buried within tiers of columnar cells.

Habitat
Occurs exclusively as an epiphyte on the geniculate corallines Amphiroa, Cheilosporum (Decaisne) Zanardini, Haliptilon (Decaisne) Lindley and Jania J.V. Lamouroux; A. fragilissima was the commonest host. Host plants were collected from tide pools and the lower intertidal and upper subtidal levels (mainly under slight to moderate wave action).
