The type species (holotype) of the genus Lithothrix is Lithothrix aspergillum J.E.Gray.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Paulsilvella antiqua (G.F.Elliott) Woelkerling, Sartoni & Boddi.

Type locality: A late-Pleistocene fossil from Mauritius; Holotype: BM; Slide V.60116 (Woelkerling, Sartoni & Boddi 2002: 367) Notes: Slide also includes an isotype.
