The type species (holotype) of the genus Massartia is Massartia nieuportensis Conrad.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Opisthoaulax tetragonops (T.M.Harris) Calado.

Type locality: "This small species is common in eutrophic roadside ditches and small ponds in early spring. The figured specimens were from Earley, 0° 56' 30" W., 51° 25' 40" N., March 1939." [Earley, Berkshire, England]; (Harris 1940: 16)
