Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Peridinium is Peridinium cinctum (O.F.Müller) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Parvodinium parvulum (Woloszynska) Na Wang, K.N.Mertens & H. Gu.
