Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Phycopeltis is Phycopeltis epiphyton Millardet.

The taxonomic or nomenclatural status (or both) of this entity is in some way unresolved and requires further investigation.

Type Information
Syntype localities: Greymouth, Picton and Rotorua, New Zealand; on leaves of Asplenium falcatum, and Nesodaphne tawa; Notes: No type specimen was designated by Jennings (1896). Figure 2 of Jenning’s plate 28 is proposed as possible lectotype (Rindi, pers. comm.).
