The type species (lectotype) of the genus Euglena is Euglena viridis (O.F.Müller) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepocinclis spirogyroides var. tortus (Prijmaczenko) D.A.Kapustin.
