The type species (lectotype) of the genus Trachelomonas is Trachelomonas volvocina (Ehrenberg) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Trachelomonas dangeardii var. glabra (Playfair) Deflandre.
