The type species (holotype) of the genus Botryoglossum is Botryoglossum platycarpum (Turner) Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pollexfenia lobata (Hooker f. & Harvey) Falkenberg.

Type Information
Type locality: "At Port Arthur, Tasmania, Dr. Jeannerett. Also collected by the Rev. Mr. Ewing. (v. s. in Herb. T. C. D. com. cl. Hooker!)"; (Harvey 1847: 20) Holotype: Dr Jeannerett; TCD; (Harvey 1847: 20) Notes: Womersley (2003) hae "Type from Port Arthur, Tas. (Jeannerett); holotype in BM." However, Harvey specifies a specimen in TCD so that the BM specimen is actually an isotype.
