General Environment
This is a freshwater species.
Description
Characters same as for the genus; main filaments torulose and consisting
of short barrel-shaped cells, 8-12 µm broad and as long as broad or slightly
longer; branch-filaments thinner and elongate, not constricted at the crosswalls,
with elongate cylindrical cells, 4-6 µm broad; heterocysts oblongcylindrical,
5-5.6 µm broad and 10.5-22 µm long. Gonidia formed singly from
each cell of the pseudohormocyst, 8-5-9 µm diameter.
