Type locality: Bengal [Bangladesh], East Indies (Jahn & Schmid, 2007: 305). Lectotype: Presumed freshwater/brackish as Surirella, Cymatopleura, Hantzschia, Rhopalodia and Cymbella present. W Diat 78 (Jahn & Schmid, 2007: 305). Notes: Lectotype (designated by Jahn & Schmid, 2007): Cleve & Moller, Diat 78, Nitzschia Kurzii Rabh., East Indies at W (Fig. 9).
