Type locality: Lagoon of Islands, Tasmania; (Kociolek & al. 2004: 440, 428) Holotype: Fig. 92 (epitype) J.P. Bradbury; December 1984; Sample site near boat ramp, sediment near shore with much organic floc; CAS; Slide 221048 (Kociolek & al. 2004: 440, 428) Notes: CAS Accession 621824 (California Academy of Sciences).

General Environment
This is a freshwater species.

Description
Valves linear-clavate, tumid at the centre, with rounded poles. Length 67.5-97.5 mm. Breadth 9-10 mm. Raphe lateral, slightly undulate, internal proximal ends recurved. Striae parallel to radiate, strongly radiate at footpole. Striae denser at headpole. Striae six to eight in 10 mm at centre. Axial area narrow, linear, expanded at the centre to form a rectangular central area. Central area with a single, small stigma at the end of an elongated stria. Apical pore field prominent at footpole. Septa distinct.
