Holotype locality: Blackford Pond, Edinburgh, Scotland; (Mann & al. 2004: 476) Holotype: material of clone BLA17 (=B1 85) as preserved on slide E4701 (E); isolated 5 October 2004, from epipelon of soft mud (epitype) December '83; 70 m altitude; mud slurry from small, artificial, eutrophic lake fed by groundwater seepage and underwater springs; E; E16/4 (mud (tissue)) (Mann & al. 2004: 476, 460) Notes: Epitype (Evans & Mann 2009: 71, fig. 2).
General Environment
This is a freshwater species.
Description
The valves are narrowly elliptical with subcapitate ends, 19-57 µm long and 8.1-9.3 µm wide. The axial area is narrow and straight. The central area is a bow-tie-shaped subfascia; its outline is somewhat irregular, as a result of the presence of approximately alternate long and short striae.
