Type locality: Golfo di Napoli, Italy (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 380). Notes: "Provisional lectotype": "Funk's (1922, pl. V: fig. 17) illustration". This illustration is based on Bethold's original material (Athanasidis 1996: 113).

Adjective B (Latin), elegant (Stearn 1973).
