Type locality: N. Russia; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: fig. 56 on pl.XXIV in Cienkowsky: (Findinig et al. 2010: 870) Notes: Lectotype and epitype designated by Findenig et al. (2010: 870).Epitype (figs 4e, 5b) deposited in B 40 0040672 (Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem, Germany) and in the Experimental Phycology and Culture Collection of Algae Gottingen (EPSAG; Gottingen, Germany) as strain number SAG 2322 (=199hm in the collection of J. Boenigt). Epitype locality: Antarctica, Davis Valley, Pond 82º28'S, 50º56'W, collected by T. Garstecki at 300 m asl., on 19.01.2004.
