The type species (lectotype) of the genus Mesophyllum is Mesophyllum lichenoides (J.Ellis) Me.Lemoine.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Synarthrophyton schmitzii (Hariot) M.L.Mendoza, S.Molina & P.Ventura.
