The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Frustulia creuzburgensis (Krasske) Hustedt.
Type Information
Type locality: Texas (Orange County): short distance above mouth of Sabine River; (Index Nominum Algarum) Holotype: ANSP; A-GC 6679A (Kociolek et al. 2011: 30) Notes: J.H. Wallace; common on logs in intertidal zone (INA).
