Type Information
Type locality: Not specified; (Silva & al. 1996: 592) Lectotype: (De Clerck 2003: 181) Notes: Lectotype: Roth (1797: pl. 7, fig.1). In the absence of any type material, the original illustration is chosen as a lectotype (De Clerck (2003)).Tronholm et al. (2010: 1309) consider it likely that the Mediterranean was the type locality. They select the following specimen as epitype of Dictyota fasciola (Fig. 7A): GENT ODC 1057 (O. De Clerck, 24 May 2005, Cap du troc, Banyuls).
