Type locality: "S:t Lawrencebay, Port Clarence, på båda ställena temligen ymnig; något sällskaplig inom sublitoralregionen; med receptakler. [St. Lawrencebay, Port Clarence (Bering Island) in both places pretty plentiful; somewhat gregarious in sublitoral zone; with the receptacles.]" (Kjellman 1889: 34).
