The type species (holotype) of the genus Haliseris is Haliseris polypodioides (A.P.de Candolle) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dictyopteris divaricata (Okamura) Okamura.

Japan (LT= Kabula, Rebun Island, Hokkaido) [syntypes from Hokkaido and Mutsu];

Origin of Species Name
Participle (Latin), vanishing, passing away, quickly disappearing or fadin, lasing only a short time (Stearn 1973).
