This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Nitella flexilis (Linnaeus) C.Agardh.

Description
(Wahlstedt 1975 s. 16) Varierar liksom föregående (= N.opaca) från mer än fotslong till knappt tumslång ( f. pusilla); stjelken är någon gång nästan lika grof som hos följande (=N. translucens) art (f. crassa), men vanligen något finare än föregående, stundom hårfin; bladen äro än längre, finare och sparsamt fruktificerande (f. laxa s. longifolia), än kortare och rikare fruktificerande (f. brevifolia), hvarvid de fertila bladen stundom böja sig sammen til hufvudlika gyttringar (f. subcapitata). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vary in hight from feetlong (30 cm) to inchlong (2-3 cm)(f.pusilla), the stem can be as broad as N. translucens (f. crassa), but more common thinner than N.opaca, somethimes hairthin, the branchlets are longer, finer and has low fertility (f. laxa s. longifolia), or shorter and richer fertile (f. brevifolia), sometimes the fertile branchlets fom heads (f. subcapitata).
