Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Katodinium is Katodinium nieuportense (Conrad) Fott.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gymnodinium fontinale (C.E.M.Bicudo & Skvortzov) Moestrup.

Among Tribonema sp. in a small, temporary pool within the Parque do Estado de São Paulo; São Paulo; Brazil;
