Type locality: Cumbrae, Scotland (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 392). Lectotype: E.A.L.Batters; viii.1891; no habitat data on type. TRH C1-2918 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 392). Notes: Also lectotype of Lithothamnion corallioides f. australis Foslie, 1895.
