Type Information
Type locality: Stavanger, Norway; (Serio & al. 2008: 124) Epitype: O; (Serio & al. 2008: 124) Notes: Lectotype: "Fucus ramosissimus" Oeder, Flora Danica: plate 276 (1776). Epitype: "Fucus ramosissimus" collected by M. N. Blytt, 1833 at Stavanger (Norway), designated by Nam et al. (2000: 767 and fig. 30); epitype deposited in O (the Botanical Museum of Oslo). According to Jørgensen (2012: 1091), "There is no specimen in Gunnerus’s herbarium and he referred solely to Oeder’s treatment in Flora Danica and its tab. 276 which is the holotype, of which no original material (from “sinus stavangrensis”) has been located. Nam & al. (2000) have used a Blytt collection from the same fjord to interpret this illustration, the one that was formally designated as an epitype for Gunnerus’s name by Serio & al. (2008)."
