Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Delesseria is Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Paraglossum minus (Baardseth) Showe M.Lin & Hommersand.

Syntype localities: Tristan da Cunha, Nightingale, Middle and Stoltenhoff Islands, Tristan da Cunha; (Baardseth 1941: 101) Notes: Holotype: Baardseth (1941, fig 52B), Herbarium at O. Tristan da Cunha, Sta. 28, Guest Bay, 25-30 m, December 27, 1937, leg. Baardseth (Lin & Hommersand, 2016: 31).

Adjective (Latin), smaller, inferior, lesser (Stearn 1973).
