Type locality: "In mari Canadensi" (uncertain); (Silva & al. 1996: 324) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Kraft & Wynne (1979: 327-328)

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), subulate, awl-shaped, i.e., tapering from a narrow or moderately broad base to a very fine point (Stearn 1973).
