The type species (holotype) of the genus Audouinella is Audouinella miniata Bory.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Grania efflorescens (J.Agardh) Kylin.

Type Information
Type locality: "Ad litora sinus Codani in Fuco purpurascenti parasitica"; (Agardh 1851: 15) Type: LD; Agardh No. 35129 Notes: Athansiadis (1966: 21) mentions Kullaberg as the type locality. Kullaberg is a nature reserve situated on a peninsula of land protruding into the Kattegat in Höganäs Municipality near the town of Mölle in southwest Sweden. Sinus Codanus is generally regarded as the area of the Kattegat.
