The type species (lectotype) of the genus Fucus is Fucus vesiculosus Linnaeus.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hymenocladia divaricata Harvey.

Adjective (Latin), divaricate, spreading at a wide angle (Stearn 1973).
