Results of investigations by Abdel-Hafez et al. (2015) support the use of culture filtrate of [Oscillatoria sp. or] Nostoc muscorum to control purple blotch disease of onion floral stalks caused by Altenaria porri instead of using toxic fungicides. - (12 Mar 2018) - Wendy Guiry

Type locality: Jaders Bruk, Scania, Sweden. (Hrouzel et al. 2103: 211). Holotype: July 1810; mosses. LD Herb. alg. Agardh 6154 (Hrouzel et al. 2103 Notes: Type locality: Belgium, France, Corsica, Austria, USA (INA).
