The type species (holotype) of the genus Pentapharsodinium is Pentapharsodinium dalei Indelicato & A.R.Loeblich.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ensiculifera jinhaensis (Zhun Li, M.S.Han & H.H.Shin) Zhun Li, K.N.Mert., Gottschling, H.Gu & H.H.Shin.

Type locality: Jinhae-Masan Bay (35°4'35.94"N, 128°29'12.84"E), Korea; (Li et al. 2015: 568) Holotype: Library of Marine Samples, Korean Ocean Research and Development Inst.; SEM stub 201305S1 (Li et al. 2015: 568, figs 15-22) Notes: GenBank accession numbers KJ845727 and KJ433986.
