Type locality: "Parasitical on the larger Algae, Tasmania , R. Gunn, Esq. ( v. s . in Herb. T. C. D. comm. cl. Hooker)" [Tasmania]; (Harvey 1847: 49) Lectotype (designated by Womersley 2003: 292): R.C. Gunn sine numero; BM; (Womersley 2003: 292) Notes: "Type from Tasmania (Gunn), probably N coast; lectotype in BM." (Womersley 2003: 292) although Harvey clear states that he used a specimen in TCD communicated by J.D. Hooker.
