Type locality: Mikawa, Aichi Prefecture, Pacific (Verlaque et al 2005: 485). Type: SAP (Okamura herb.) (Kawaguchi 1989: 196). Notes: Shinoshima, Aichi Prefecture, Japan Wang et al. (2001: 258).
Origin of species name
Participle B (Latin), spreading, outspread, diverging from the axis at almost 90 degrees (Stearn 1973).
This species has been introduced accidentally, probably via oyster importation from Japan, into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 175) being first found in the Etang de Thau (France) in 1994. - (5 Nov 2015) - M.D. Guiry
