The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ganonema farinosum (J.V.Lamouroux) K.-C.Fan & Y.-C.Wang.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), tomentose, i.e., thickly and evenly covered with short more or less adpressed curled or curved matted hairs (Stearn 1973).
