Participle B (Latin), spreading, outspread, diverging from the axis at almost 90 degrees (Stearn 1973).

Type information
Type locality: Port Stanvac, South Australia (Womersley 1998: 178). Holotype: Clarke & Engler; 14 April 1979; on bryozoans on jetty pylons, 3-12 m deep. AD A50327 (Womersley 1998: 178).

Atlantic Islands: Azores (Neto 1994, Tittley & Neto 1994).

Australia and New Zealand: South Australia (Womersley 1998), Tasmania (Munda 2000), Western Australia (Munda 2000).

Distributional notes
According to Womersley (1998) this species is recorded from Semaphore to Port Noarlunga, S. Australia but, in his opinion, it is probably more widely distributed.
