Type locality: Germany: near Halle a. Salle sap of poplars and elms; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Epitype (designated by Darienko & Pröschold, 2015: 399 in support of the lectotype designated in Kalina & Puncochárová, 1987): Authentic strain SAG 211-7a permanently cryopreserved in SAG; ITS-2 DNA Barcode 1a and 1b (BC 1a and BC 1b) in Figure 2.
